It has been translated into English by the author himself under the title "Karnataka Lexicon". This is a must-read for students of Kannada language and literature, as well as teachers/lecturers of Kannada at all levels. This is also invaluable for researchers of Indian linguistic history wherein etymology plays an important role. ##About the Author H. Krishna was born in a village named Belur, a small town in the Belgaum district of Karnataka State, India. He graduated from Bombay University. He held several posts at the Science College, Mumbai and published articles on linguistics and language teaching. He worked as a Principal of the Government High School, Ghatkopar as well as as Headmaster of Sathnam (a school for deaf children) at Kamathipura. Later he worked as Lecturer at Central Kannada School at Tumakuru, Bangalore and has been an important part of the Kannada literary scene for over four decades. He was a visiting professor at Sunaparanta, Goa as well as the Vice-President of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat. He is also a member of many literary and social organizations such as the Bangalore Literary Society, Bangalore, Prarthana Samaj, Bombay and Kannada Sahitya Parishat. ##Other works by the author H. Krishna has written several books on topics related to language, linguistics and literature. The other books are "Dalit Kannada" (Essays on Dalit Literature), "Kannada Sahitya Prakashana" (a book on Kannada literature), "Shri Shivaram Kanojiya Nama": an autobiography of Shri Shivaram Karanth, the founder of the Sahitya Samsad. ##Brief summary The Kannada Lexicon has been prepared in three languages - Kannada, English and Hindi. The details are given below under each language. The work has been divided into 22 sections and the words from each section have been identified with a symbol. These symbols are given below: 1.
